"We believe every interaction with our patients is an opportunity to serve".
Service to mankind is service to God is what guides the team at Sachetana. With a strong academic background, a deep and diverse clinical experience, and with the intent of making eye care affordable and easily accessible, OutReach programmes are the mainstay of the social responsibility of Dr. Venkatesh through Sachetana.
Having seen the difficulty in reaching out to the rural and semi-urban population, in desperate need of primary health care, he has, both in his individual capacity and also through Sachetana, worked for the delivery of quality and affordable eye-care.
Sachetana also emphasises the need to create awareness about preventable blindness through talks, camps and screening drives.
As part of the clinic's public outreach initiatives in eye care, Dr. Venkatesh has conducted a number of eye screening camps both at the clinic and at various venues in and around Bangalore and also in rural areas like Devarayasamudram, Sadahalli, Anantapur and Magadi. He has also partnered with various charitable organisations to conduct free general eye examination, Cataract, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy screening drives.
The motive of these camps, along with the distribution of free medicines and spectacles, has been to perform cataract and other eye surgeries for free or at hugely subsidised costs. He has presented a number of scientific research papers at conferences and seminars and is a regular speaker at awareness drives in schools and organisations.
He has offered his services as a camp eye surgeon, specially for cataracts in many respectable charity eye hospitals like the Globe Eye Foundation, Hoskote, Mahaveer Jain Netralaya, Sheshadripuram, Viveka Drishti, Banashankari, Rotary Eye Hospital, Rajajinagar and Dr. M C Modi Eye Hospital. He has performed close to 20000 cataract surgeries.
